By no means just for the elite, one of our primary aims is to professionalise amateur sport and fitness. Ryan Spencer MSc, BSc(Hons)
Managing Director, Performance & Rehabilitation Specialist

Ryan founded Pyramid Performance & Health in January 2017, following extensive experience working in professional sport ranging from Sports Science Support at Leeds United FC to more recent work in the United States with professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLS, and IRONMAN Sports Medicine Institute. Having developed innovative strength & conditioning programmes, sport-specific biomechanical movement analyses, performance testing protocols, and unique injury rehabilitation models alongside some of the USA’s leading physios, Ryan wanted to provide this and more to athletes and active people of all abilities in the UK.
Holding two degrees including a Masters in Sport & Exercise Biomechanics, with an innovative approach to human performance, Ryan is a leader in the field of applied sport science in the East Midlands. Ryan offers performance consulting, strength & conditioning, advanced injury rehabilitation, and performance testing services.
Damien Farrow MRes, BSc(Hons)
Strength & Conditioning Coach

Damien is an experienced performance coach with a passion for athletic performance through science-informed methods. With a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Nottingham Trent University, Damien brings a robust academic background to his coaching practice. His research focused on the critical impacts of sleep on training adaptations, performance, and overall health.
Damien most recently served as the Lead Performance Coach at Nottingham Forest Women FC, where he spent two years driving performance improvements, on and off the pitch, helping athletes reach their full potential. His role involved designing and implementing individualised training programmes, overseeing athlete conditioning, and ensuring optimal physical readiness for competition.
With a personal history as a semi-professional footballer, Damien understands the demands of high level sport from both the athlete’s and coach’s perspectives. He provides a coaching environment that is both supportive and challenging, aimed at achieving peak performance. Damien is dedicated to continuous learning and is committed to applying the latest research and techniques in sports science to help athletes achieve excellence.
Damien offers performance coaching, personal training, performance testing and group training.
Luke Hunton BSc(Hons)
Sports Rehab Specialist / Therapist

Luke is a graduate from the University of Nottingham with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport Rehabilitation. His rehabilitation methods include manual therapy, sports massage, exercise prescription and physical conditioning. Luke has a love for all sports and understands the importance of keeping fit and avoiding injury. He’s a regular gym-goer, experienced skier, and loves playing football.
Luke currently also works for Nottingham Forest Women FC and has worked with the University of Nottingham Men’s Football Team providing pitch-side cover, as well as applying massage and taping pre-game and creating and implementing rehabilitation plans for injured athletes. In addition to his work in football, Luke has also worked with elite runners and American Football players, as well as other sportspeople from novice juniors to seniors.
Luke offers injury rehabilitation programmes, personal training and sports massage/therapy treatments.
Sam Barrows MSc, BSc(Hons), SENr
Performance Nutritionist

Alongside his consultancy work at Pyramid, Sam also currently holds the position of Performance Nutritionist at Derby County FC.
Sam first developed an interest in nutrition by wanting to improve his own sporting performance. This led him to pursue a career in performance nutrition by completing a Sports Science degree and a Masters degree in Sports Nutrition. He also holds Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register Accreditation, International Society of Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) accreditation, and is a UK Anti-Doping Advisor.
Sam has supported elite and amateur athletes, everyday gym goers and individuals who just want to improve their health and body composition. To date, Sam has worked with athletes from a wide range of sports including motorsport, football, rugby, triathlon, cricket, tennis, weightlifting and combat sports.
Using a food-first approach Sam is passionate about and strongly believes in a scientifically informed and evidence-based approach when working with all clients. Translating often complex scientific research and implementing it in a sustainable and practical manner, while helping people become the best version of themselves is of primary importance to Sam. Sam offers individual nutrition consulting, group education and performance nutrition packages for all ages and abilities.
Eleanor Weinberg BSc(Hons), MBAPO, HCPC
Foot & Ankle Specialist, Orthotist/Prosthetist

Eleanor qualified as a Prosthetist/Orthotist from University of Salford in 1999 and spent 15 years working for the NHS in Nottingham. Working up from a Graduate Orthotist to Senior Orthotist she gained a huge amount of varied experience across all areas of Orthotic care as well as mentoring students and Junior Orthotists. She helped develop new clinical pathways within paediatrics as well as working in multidisciplinary clinics in Orthopaedics, Neurology and Paediatrics. Looking for a new challenge she left in 2015 and set up Total Orthotics.
An Orthotist is a very specialist profession using external appliances to support, correct or re-align the body. Since setting up alone she has been able to combine her vast clinical knowledge with her personal interests of sport and rehabilitation for able bodied and disabled people. This is what lead her to begin working alongside and within Pyramid Performance and Health. Eleanor also works with case-managed and complex clients in the community, often alongside other Allied Health Professionals.
